"A vast collection of Catalan art from the 10th to the 19th centuries awaits discovery in one of Barcelona's most iconic buildings."

Visit the National Art Museum of Catalonia to discover exhibits that showcase the artistic heritage of the Catalonia region. The collections span more than 10 centuries and include everything from paintings and sculptures to woodcuts and photography. The museum is located in the Palau Nacional on Montjuic, a mountain known for its museums, galleries, sports arenas and parks.

Here you will find Romanesque frescoes and woodcuts, Gothic panels, stone sculptures and metal artwork. Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces from the 16th to 18th centuries are also displayed in the museum. Among them are works by El Greco, Titian, Francisco de Zurbarán and many others.

The Modern Art Collection covers the neoclassical, avant-garde, modern and noucentisme (early 20th-century Catalan cultural movements) periods. Works by great artists such as Salvador Dalí, Marià Fortuny, Antoni Gaudí and Pablo Picasso are all displayed here. Photography enthusiasts will delight in a collection of approximately 6,500 photographs that range from iconography to photojournalism and neo-realism.

Temporary exhibitions at the museum showcase a variety of art genres. Exhibits that have been held include collections of antique coins and architectural archives, photo magazines, and exhibitions on furniture and home decor.
