“Want to find out how bells are made? The Berger Bell Foundry in Bärau will help visitors cast and decorate their very own bell.”

Since 1730, a variety of bells have been produced and sold at the bell foundry in Bärau. Bells carry meanings as protection, happiness and as a sign of peace. This is because during the war, bells were taken from churches and from grasslands to make cannons and weapons. In peacetime, war machines once again ring in bells and peace resounds everywhere.

Cowbells are also a perfect symbol to open a new phase of life or a special event such as a wedding, retirement, baptism, house handover, company handover, and more. ..

The bell making class will last from 3 to 6 hours, students will receive a steel mold, sand and a basic model of a bell. Craft the sandstone with expert guidance with your own hands and decorate the bell shape yourself with some of the more than 200-year-old markings. Experience tradition from the family secret of the intricate production of traditional Berger bells. Students will be poured a molten metal compound into a bell-shaped cast iron, let the mold cool, and then begin final production. Listen to the first sound of a self-made bell, an emotional moment. Students will then be given an Appenzeller strap to hook onto the bell and complete their work.
