“On a 150-year-old farm in Oberaudorf, learn to make Schnitzel and a traditional Bavarian dinner with the locals.”
“Schnitzel” in German means breaded and fried cutlets. Schnitzel is cooked according to different recipes depending on the region in Germany. In Bavaria, Schnitzel Wiener Art is made from a slice of crispy pork, breaded and fried, then served with french fries and a slice of lemon.
Apfelstrudel (apple roll) is a traditional pastry from Vienna, a sweet toasted bread that is very popular in Austria, Germany and many countries that were once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Making Strudel apple pie is a laborious process from rolling out the dough so thin that you can read a newspaper through it. In Bavaria, neither breadcrumbs nor nuts are used for the filling but instead are fresh apples, golden raisins with a delicate balance of cinnamon and sugar.
At this Bavarian food workshop, students can experience Bavarian cuisine through a cooking class on the 150-year-old local farmhouse Oberaudorf. Learn how to make traditional Bavarian apple strudel, schnitzel and potato salad, while sipping on Bavarian beer and famous local schnapps. This is a day trip with a cooking class, lasting between 4 and 6 hours. Shuttle service from Munich can be arranged. Oberaudorf can also be reached by train from Munich and will be picked up by locals from the station.
