The three-mile Freedom Trail leads visitors past 16 of the city's major historic sites.

It's easy to follow the red bricks on the sidewalk and the footprints at the crossroads. Start by picking up a brochure about attractions at the Boston Common Visitor Center before heading to the State House. The path will take you to the old Granary Cemetery (where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and John Hancock are buried), and Boston's oldest cemetery with Governor John Winthrop's grave, the Old South Convention House (where the dinner speech was given). historic tea party in Boston) and the Old State House. It is Boston's oldest public building and the site of the Boston Massacre. The trail continues through Little Italy in the heart of Boston, past the 1680 Paul Revere House and the Old North Church, which greatly helped set the stage for the Revolutionary War. Quaint Italian restaurants, cafes, pastry shops and gourmet shops crowd the area, especially on lively Hanover Street.
