Profile
The bike path along the Danube begins at its source in Donaueschingen - southern Germany and runs straight from there all the way to Budapest with a length of about 1,260 km. Most of the way runs along the banks of the Danube, past picturesque natural landscapes, sun-drenched vineyards, majestic castles or romantic monasteries and even beautiful cities like Ulm, Passau, Linz, Vienna and Bratislava.
The road is divided into 27 stages, each about 50 km long. Thanks to well-developed and regularly maintained paths, the route is truly the perfect choice for all those looking for experiential cycling trips. Good infrastructure along the Danube bike path makes cycling tours even easier. Accommodation can be found everywhere from guest houses, nice hotels or hostels according to each person's preferences. Even youth hostels and campsites can often be found right near the landmarks. The bike path is also well developed culinary, and you can expect a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants and cafes after each section of the route.
Part of the Danube Trail running in Germany is recommended in the ADFC document "Explore Germany by bike" and is rated as a 4-star quality cycling route.
Regardless of spring, summer or autumn, the cycling path along the Danube River always offers a distinct beauty, attracting visitors with a very special experience in each season.
