Profile
The park was inaugurated in 1987 to commemorate the 60th birthday of King Rama IX. It was a large-scale project made possible through the collaboration of the government and the public.
The “Sufficiency Economy” philosophy, emphasizing balance between development and conservation, is clearly reflected in the park’s design: climate-regulating lakes, diverse ecological zones, and educational exhibition areas focused on environmental awareness.
A standout highlight is the golden-domed building reflected on the vast lake’s surface – a memorial honoring the King’s contributions to rural development and irrigation.
The expansive lake helps regulate the air and creates a poetic landscape. It is an ideal spot for boating, strolling, and watching the sunset.
The park resembles a “living natural museum” with various themed gardens: a botanical garden, the Romanee Garden recreating Northern Thailand’s landscape, and a rich aquatic garden area.
Sculptures and landscape designs are harmoniously integrated into the community’s shared living spaces.
The International Gardens allow visitors to explore diverse cultures:
Chinese Garden with curved bridges and lotus ponds.
Japanese Garden featuring bonsai and koi fish.
Spanish Garden adorned with vibrant mosaic tiles.
American Garden inspired by the Nevada desert landscape.
Rama IX Park serves as a wellness hub with activities such as jogging, yoga, cycling, and tai chi.
The park regularly hosts exhibitions, cultural fairs, and outdoor concerts, attracting large numbers of residents and visitors alike.
Every December, Bangkok’s largest flower festival takes place here, featuring hundreds of vibrant flower species and a variety of unique cultural activities.
