Profile
The 30,000 square meter museum is divided into four zones: "Inert Matter" explaining the formation of the Earth according to the Big Bang theory; “Living Matter” studies human origins; “Intelligent Matter” is about the process by which humans evolved into intelligent beings and “Civilized Matter” is about pioneers in science.
The museum was built and improved from an old factory and the overall architecture is in a modern style. When visiting the museum, visitors are greeted by the Albert Einstein statue and go up to the 5th basement by a spiral staircase around a tropical tree from the Acariquara gallery, where the Amazon jungle is recreated. The Amazon Forest and Wetlands showcase flora and fauna from the Amazon. Other ecosystems are studied in the Toca Toca site, which exhibits organisms from a variety of environments.
The museum has a 3D universe model house and Geological Wall to help visitors understand the geological history of the world. There is also a 40m-long Foucault pendulum depicting the Earth's rotation and other exhibits on the movement of ocean waves, how sandstorms form and how volcanoes work. Scientific principles are explained by interacting with visitors.
Outside the museum also holds many other exhibitions and experiments. The largest experiment consisted of two dish antennas about 80 meters apart, which showed how easily sound waves can travel.
In addition to the exhibition, there is also a biological research center.
