Profile

The silhouettes of ethnic minorities walking on the road make the spring picture more vivid... The most prominent and familiar are peach blossoms. Each dry branch bares small pink flowers, thick and firm petals, carrying within it a strong vitality in a place with a harsh climate. That pink color appears all over the journey on National Highway 4C, from Quan Ba through Yen Minh to Pho Cao, extending through Sa Phin, Lung Tao to Lung Cu, then going back down to Dong Van town and continuing the journey to Meo Vac, passing through the rare land of Mau Due - Du Gia to return to Ha Giang city. Peach blossoms bloom most abundantly in Sung La valley, along with nearby locations such as Lao Xa, Sang Tung.
A new place that also has peach blossoms blooming at the end of February is Nhiu Co San village in Sang Ma Sao commune, Bat Xat, Lao Cai. The road to this place is quite difficult with the terrain strongly divided by deep ravines and the highest mountains in Vietnam. Hidden in the wild scenery of the mountains and forests are poetic villages and peach gardens that are bright pink and inviting when spring comes. When the peach blossoms here begin to fade, about 140km to the east, the plum blossoms of Ta Van Chu in Bac Ha, Lao Cai begin to bloom white. The plums here are planted in large gardens, dyeing the entire forest into pure white valleys, surrounding the old houses lying pensively in the middle of the garden.
More than 100km away, in Sau Chua village in Sa Pa, Lao Cai, the late-blooming peach blossoms also begin to bloom in late February to early March. The peach blossoms here are quite diverse, from ancient tree stumps to newly planted young peach trees. In March, when the weather warms up, the ancient hawthorn trees in Nam Nghiep village in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La, Son La begin to bloom ivory-white, bringing a simple and natural beauty thanks to the "perfect" combination on the dark yellow soil and the peaceful houses of the H'Mong people.
Although the barren rocky trees are covered with red-pink color, at this time there is still the bright pink color of peach blossoms for those who have not had time to have a flower-viewing trip. Peach blossoms in Vang Chai Phin village, Cao Ma Po, Quan Ba, Ha Giang usually bloom the latest, from the beginning to the middle of March, showing off their colors with the whole tree laden with flowers. Spring often reminds us of youth, of what is fresh and full of vitality. This is an opportunity for us to feel young again, to "embrace" the most beautiful spring moments of flowers, grass, and sky. Those moments will become beautiful memories, helping us balance our spirit before the pressure of life, ready for exciting beginnings.
