Profile
In Vietnam, water puppetry is a traditional art form, originating from the Red River Delta, in the north of our country. When the rice fields are flooded, the villagers will entertain each other with this form of puppet play. Therefore, water puppetry is one of the art forms closest to people.
The puppets are mostly made from wood and then lacquered. The puppets will be fixed on top of a large bamboo stick, the artist at the back of the stage will use these bamboo sticks to control the puppet. As a result, the puppets will glide across the water like they are moving, combining with music and voices to create a complete story.
During the Hoi An water puppet show, guests will enjoy a humorous 45-minute performance that introduces a series of fables and stories about Vietnamese village life. All will take place in an outdoor stage with a relaxed atmosphere.
After visiting the old town, enjoying a puppet show at Hoi An Theater can be a way to end your day here.
A small note for visitors is that there are no designated seats with tickets, so people are advised to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early before the show starts, especially during peak season to be able to have a good time. get a comfortable seat.
