The Independence War Museum, located in the first Turkish Parliament building in the Ulus district of Ankara, Turkey, is home to important photographs, documents and items from the War of Independence. of Turkey.

The museum is housed in a building located at Ulus Square, Ankara. It was originally planned as the Union and Progressive Party Committee building and designed by the devout architect Salim Bey and construction began in 1915 by the architect of the Army. Hasip Bey's delegation. The building has two floors in Turkish architectural style and is built entirely of Ankara stone (andesite). When it was decided to convene the National Assembly at this building on April 23, 1920, construction was not yet completed.

The building served as the Turkish Parliament from April 23, 1920 to October 15, 1924. It was later used as the headquarters of the People's Republican Party and the Law School. In 1952 it was transferred to the Ministry of Education and restored in 1957 to convert the building into a museum. It was opened to the public as the Turkish Parliament Museum on 23 April 1961.

In early 1981, the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism began restoration and refurbishment work as part of the program to celebrate the centenary of Atatürk's birth. The building reopened to the public as the War of Independence Museum on April 23, 1981.

On the left side of the corridor and in the galleries the events between 1918 - 1923 are chronologically narrated in oil paintings, photographs, documents, various objects and weapon models war tools and equipment.

The third room on the left side of the corridor is used as the Guild Hall. There is an oil painting depicting Mustafa Kemal's arrival in Ankara. There is also a tapestry representing the National Treaty, the War of Independence, medals and an oil painting depicting Gazi Mustafa Kemal and his friends on the balcony of the Council Building.

The fifth room to the left of the corridor is used as a gallery of images of the commanders participating in the War of Independence, documents on the Mudanya Armistice Agreement and the Treaty of Lausanne, establishing Ankara as the Capital. , declaration of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal's first speech in Parliament after being elected President of the Republic and his photo on the occasion. Mustafa Kemal's cane, Mauser rifle, seals, field goggles he used in the War of Independence, military uniforms, flags were hoisted to the General Assembly on April 23, 1920 with the signature of Recep Peker and a cloth with the inscription presented to the General Assembly of Parliament by the Women's Charities, presented and displayed in this room.

The large hall is to the right of the corridor. The original structure is preserved in this hall. In the middle was the speaker's podium and behind it was the old alphabet text that read "Sovereignty belongs to the State".

The room next to the great hall was Mustafa Kemal's office in the Council Building. The original condition of the room was kept as it was. Many important decisions were made in this simply decorated room. The Presidential Seal, displayed on National Day occasions, is the most important and prominent part of this museum.
