Profile
Songdo Beach, located just 3 kilometers from downtown Busan, the name of “Songdo” means “pine island” in reference to its bordering pine groves. Songdo Beach (송도) is a popular beach in Busan that is a great alternative to Gwangalli and Haeundae (especially in the summer as both of these beaches are usually very crowded). The beach has long been a favorite with locals and has been popular with city dwellers in the area every summer since the 1960s for its graceful coastline and fine white sand.
Although only 5km south of Nampo-dong, one of the busiest commercial and entertainment areas in Busan, Songdo feels far from the city. In the past, this 400-meter stretch of soft sand had only a handful of locals swimming and a few pet dogs running around exercising with their owners. Today, to Songdo, visitors can climb a high diving board erected in the middle of Songdo Bay and stroll along the elevated boardwalk across the bay. Visitors can step off the sand and into a cluster of restaurants and bars, which offer a pleasant feel that resembles the atmosphere of Songdo itself.
Songdo Beach today is famous for the Songdo Skywalk and Songdo Marine Cable Car.
- Songdo Beach Skywalk: officially opened as the longest and curved sea walkway in Korea in June 2015, equipped with a length of 104 meters (from the coastal island to the lighthouse) and a width of 2 ,3 meters is made of steel plate and special wood. The bridge is 5.5-6 meters above sea level. Guests can enjoy the many shades of blue of the sea while the waves roll under their feet through the double-reinforced tempered glass floor with sturdy railings. Songdo Beach Skywalk is a place where visitors can safely enjoy the sound of crashing waves and vast ocean views. In the middle of the skywalk there is a small island called "turtle island", which is the best photo spot. White seashell benches are always lined up by friends, couples, and families. Here in particular offers a wonderful view at sunset.
- Songdo Marine Cable Car: Songdo Marine Cable Car is the newest and most visited attraction in Busan at the moment. Renovated after 29 years and opened on June 21, 2017, this cube attraction offers visitors amazing views of the blue sea and sky. Songdo Marcine Cable Car has two cable car options for visitors – “air cruise” and “crystal cruise”. The Crystal cruise cable car has a clear Perspex crystal bottom for visitors to see through the floor.
