Patriarchate Court
The Patriarchate is the highest organ of the Orthodox Church that includes several self-governing churches, with more than 300 million people worldwide. And it has kept its center in Istanbul for more than seventeen centuries.
The Patriarchate directly oversees Orthodox Christians from a number of ethnic backgrounds in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and parts of Greece. "Orthodox" means "right worship" and "right faith".
Saint George's Ancestral Church
The Church of St. George (The Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer) is the 5th church to have the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate since the 15th century. It used to be a convent for Orthodox nuns and was converted. changed to the papal office between 1598 and 1601.
The church is famous for its priceless objects, the papal throne dates back to the 5th century. And it is divided into three parts including the vestibule (containing the icons of Saint George and the Prophet Elijah), the nave. middle and altar, while retaining the traditional basilica style with three aisles.

To get to the Patriarchate, you first need to go to the Fener neighborhood of the Fatih district. Fener is about 5 km from the church from Eminonu, Karakoy or Eyup. And the Patriarchate is located on Dr. Sadik Ahmet street which you can easily see it on the bank of Fener.
The most practical and easy way to get to Fener neighborhood is to use the Public Buses departing from Eminonu by the coastal road via the Golden Horn, or buses departing from Taksim.
Alternatively, you can take the metro to Ayvansaray stop or the metro (line M2) at Halic stop and then walk 15 minutes along the coastal road or use the public bus bound for Eminonu.
