The 75-storey building 305.4m high with an area of over 208,000 square meters, is the tallest building in the state of Texas, the 22nd tallest in the United States and the 107th in the world.

The building was built from 1979 to 1981 with the original name "Texas Trade Tower" designed by architects IM Pei & Partners - a famous firm based in New York. The building was originally planned to be 80 stories tall, but the Federal Aviation Administration said that height would endanger air traffic at nearby William P. Hobby Airport, so the court. The house is built with 75 floors. At the time of completion, the JPMorgan Chase building was the tallest granite-clad building in the world, the sixth tallest concrete and steel structure in the United States, and the eighth in the world.

In the large square area at the entrance of the building is a multi-colored sculpture entitled "Personage with Birds", designed by painter and sculptor Joan Miró and installed in the square at the beginning of the year. 1982.

In contrast to the gray granite cladding on the rest of the tower's exterior, the west façade uses a different façade treatment with stainless steel slats placed between rows of long ribbon windows taking advantage of 30m long span without columns. JPMorgan Chase Tower's lobby has been designed to harmonize not only with the height of the structure but also with neighboring buildings. As a result, the glazing of the façade on this side is installed as a composite glazing system with no large panes between the panes, providing sweeping views of Houston's west side. The remainder of the block next to the tower's beveled western edge is devoted to a large outdoor public square.

The tower also includes 2000 square meters of retail space in addition to office spaces for lease. The observation deck on the 60th floor of the building is like a sky hall with a panoramic view of the city center from behind the glass. In addition, the JPMorgan Chase tower also has an emergency helipad on the roof, but has never been used and now houses the antenna.

Today, JPMorgan Chase Tower is not only an important financial center for large companies in the region, but it is also considered an architectural symbol of the economic and tourist power of the city of Houston.
