Besides visiting the old town, taking a boat on the Perfume River, enjoying the old town cuisine is also one of the indispensable activities of tourists when visiting Hoi An. One of the oldest and favorite restaurants here is Ba Buoi chicken rice.
Previously, Ba Buoi chicken rice was just a stall in the market, later, to make it more convenient for trading, Mrs. Buoi, the owner of the restaurant, moved to 22 Phan Chu Trinh and served chicken rice to the food. guests since then.
Ba Buoi chicken rice is a dish that sounds simple at first but is elaborately prepared with carefully selected ingredients. The rice is cooked with chicken broth, adding a little turmeric juice, so it has a beautiful color and a sweet taste. The chicken used to make the main ingredient for rice is our chicken, which is free-range, so the meat is firm and sweet. Served with chicken rice is herbs grown in Tra Que village, where farmers only use moss in the river to fertilize plants, so the stems are small but very fragrant. In addition, at the shop, there is also a portion of chicken broth in a cup and papaya, pickled carrots for diners to share. Diners can also order more chicken intestines, chicken blood or boiled chicken if they want to enjoy all the dishes here.
When serving, the owner will stir the rice and arrange raw vegetables and chicken neatly on the plate, then pour a little more broth on top.
In addition to a shop in Phan Chu Trinh, Ba Buoi chicken rice has another branch located on the street. When the main branch is too crowded, diners will be taken to the other branch by shuttle bus.
