Located in the Atpazarı district, not far from Ankara castle, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations features two impressive buildings dating back to the Ottoman era. A huge collection of Anatolian archeology arranged chronologically in exhibits spanning from the Paleolithic period to the present day, the museum serves as an introduction to the history Ancient of Turkey and Ankara. You'll find an array of bone and stone tools, Neolithic mother goddess sculptures, terracotta containers and stamps, not to mention dozens of glittering gold artifacts.

The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations displays priceless artifacts dating from the Paleolithic and Neolithic ages as well as from the Hittite, Phrygian, Urartu and Roman civilizations. Museum of Anatolian Civilization, one of the few museums in the world with unique collections and Anatolian archaeological artifacts, was awarded the title of European Museum of the Year in 1997.
