Overview

A meaningful half-day exploring how Da Nang transforms sustainability into a living culture.

Da Nang is one of Vietnam’s most forward-thinking coastal cities -clean, modern, and constantly improving its environmental footprint. But behind the postcard beauty of My Khe Beach lies a community working hard to protect the shoreline from plastic waste, storm damage, and irresponsible tourism.
This tour is a gentle but powerful introduction to urban sustainability, combining local culture, waste reduction initiatives, and a youth-led beach clean-up. It is designed for travelers who want not only to enjoy a beautiful coastline, but to help preserve it.

Program schedule

🕚 08:00- Pick-up & introduction to Da Nang’s sustainable vision
🏖️ Your guide explains the city’s ambitious commitment to becoming Vietnam’s cleanest and most livable urban area -from waste sorting programs to coastal protection policies.
🛍️ As you drive toward the morning market, you’ll see food vendors, flower sellers, and families starting their day. These markets are the heart of local life, and preserving them is part of Da Nang’s sustainability story.

🕚 08:30- Visit a Coastal Local Market (Plastic-Free Learning)
♻️ Wander through a traditional market where many vendors are transitioning to more eco-friendly habits.
     🚶‍♀️  You’ll observe:
          📍 reusable banana leaf wrapping
          📍 compostable rice-straw bags
          📍 plastic-free fresh produce stalls
📍 local women leading zero-waste campaigns
🎎 Your guide explains how cultural habits are slowly shifting -one household at a time.

🕚 09:15- Youth-led Beach Clean-Up at My Khe or Son Tra (45- 60 min)
🏝️ You’ll meet a volunteer youth group that dedicates weekends to maintaining the city’s beaches.
     🎒 Each traveler receives:
          🔸 eco-gloves
          🔸 bamboo tongs
          🔸 recycled collection bags
🌍 While cleaning, you’ll see first-hand how tides bring waste from offshore -much of it originating outside Vietnam. It’s a chance to participate in a truly global problem at a local level.
❤️ Travelers often say this moment “grounds” their trip. It’s simple, but deeply human.

🕚 10:15- Charity Coffee Meet-Up with Local Change-Makers
🏨 Visit a small social-impact café near the beach. A portion of its revenue supports coastal families affected by storms.
☕ Enjoy Vietnamese coffee or a refreshing iced tea while hearing real stories from locals about:
🔹 how typhoons reshape the coastline
🔹 how tourism helps (and hurts) sustainability
🔹 what young Da Nang residents hope for their city’s future

🕚 11:30- Return to Hotel
💐 A light, inspiring half-day with real impact.
