Profile
In the 18th century, Ninh Kieu wharf was built under King Gia Long of the Nguyen Dynasty, acting as the wharf of Can Tho market. Previously, Ninh Kieu wharf used to be called Ham Duong wharf because there were many poplar trees along the wharf. From 1876, onward, Ham Duong wharf was the place where busy trading activities took place, bustling with boats and expanded rapidly after that. Around 1957, Ham Duong wharf was renamed Ninh Kieu wharf under the Republic of Vietnam and kept this name until now.
Located in a prime location, in the middle of Can Tho city, on the right of Hau River - one of the two largest rivers in the Mekong Delta, Ninh Kieu Wharf is an ideal place for those who want to see the whole landscape. View of the river and Can Tho bridge while strolling on a boat.
Today, Ninh Kieu Wharf has developed markedly compared to before, becoming a tourist park with an area of about 7,000 square meters. The beauty of this park becomes more and more splendid and shimmering when it is installed with a modern lighting system in the evening. Therefore, this place is not only visited by tourists but also locals who also come here to take a walk and enjoy the cool atmosphere. In addition, there is another memorable experience for visitors when visiting Ninh Kieu wharf when participating in a cruise on Can Tho river in the evening, listening to don ca tai tu.
Besides, the bustling nightlife scene in Ninh Kieu market also attracts many visitors with Vietnamese food stalls. People can come here, enjoy the food while watching the river at night.
