Overview

This cultural workshop takes you on a journey to explore the history and significance of lion dance art in Vietnam - a tradition closely associated with Tet holidays, grand openings, and important events, conveying messages of dispelling evil spirits, seeking good luck, peace, and prosperity. The highlight of the experience is the hands-on activity of decorating the lion's head, where each person creates a work of art with their own personal touch and special spiritual value. This experience transforms the image of the lion head from a familiar symbol into your own creative story. By decorating it yourself, you not only create a work of art, but also "breathe life" into it, expressing wishes for good fortune and peace – true to the spirit that lion dance has preserved for generations.

What's included

- No prior skills or experience required. Detailed instructions provided by the workshop supervisor.

- All materials and tools will be provided in the workshop.

The Hue Sac Coffeeshop: Located in the small alley on the Hai Bai Trung Street is the hidden gem with traditional atmosphere.

Program schedule

The journey will starts from:

1. Introduction the traditional art of Lion dance (history, culture, meanings)

2. Introduction of materials and lion head design templates

3. Hand-on session: crafting and decorating a mini size/handsize lion head

4. Completion and presentation of the finishesd artwork

- Young children need adults to accompany them throughout the learning process
