Side

Side is a resort city on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. It includes the modern resort town and the ruins of the ancient city of Side, one of the most famous ancient cities in the country. It is located near Manavgat and the village of Selimiye, 78 km from Antalya in Antalya Province. In the center of the city are the remains of the Old Theater built in the 2nd century, which can accommodate up to 15,000 people. The white marble columns of the Greek-era Temple of Athena still stand near the harbor, and countless other archaeological sites are scattered throughout.
The city of Side is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, about 20 kilometers east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River. Today, like in the olden days, the ancient city is located on a small peninsula in the north-south direction about 1 km long and 400 m wide.
