What to expect

At 08:00, depart from Ho Chi Minh City. Your journey begins with a comfortable, scenic 2.5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City to the tranquil province of Trà Vinh, renowned for its rich Khmer heritage and rural charm.

Upon arrival, your exploration of Trà Vinh begins at the picturesque Bà Om Pond, a tranquil spot steeped in local legend. From here, you will embark on a Tuk-tuk or bicycle ride through the peaceful Khmer village, where the streets are adorned with vibrant murals depicting scenes of daily life and the cultural traditions of the Khmer people in southern Vietnam.

Your first stop will be the home of Mrs. Nary, where you will have the opportunity to observe the traditional process of making rice cakes and rice noodles, essential staples in the Khmer diet. Enjoy a warm cup of tea as you chat with the family about their way of life.

Next, visit Mr. Sane’s family workshop, where you will witness the art of making puffed rice, a local delicacy. Afterward, head to the home of Mr. An, a well-known local artist who creates stunning works inspired by Khmer culture and life in the village. Learn about his artistry and gain deeper insight into the region's cultural heritage.

Continue your cultural exploration with a visit to Mrs. Thone’s workshop, where you can see how bamboo handicrafts are made by hand. Then, visit the home of Mr. Thach Danh, where you will be treated to a live performance of traditional Khmer music, an unforgettable experience that showcases the region’s musical traditions.

Next, visit a traditional rice mill factory to witness the process of rice production, a key component of the local economy. This stop provides a fascinating look into the agricultural practices that sustain the region.

Continue your exploration with a visit to one of Trà Vinh’s ancient Khmer pagodas, such as the Âng Pagoda, which has stood for over 900 years. Here, you’ll learn about the significance of these sacred sites to the local Khmer community. You will also have the chance to visit the Khmer Museum to delve deeper into the history and traditions of the Khmer people in the Mekong Delta.

Enjoy a delicious, authentic Khmer lunch featuring regional specialties that showcase the unique flavors of Trà Vinh. This meal is the perfect opportunity to savor traditional dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

After lunch, continue your exploration of Trà Vinh city before beginning your journey back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving in the late afternoon.
