DAY 1: HCMC/CAN THO → CHAU DOC TOWN
- 08:00: Tour guide picks you up from your hotel (Ho Chi Minh City / Can Tho City Center) for an early drive to Chau Doc (approx. 4 hours).
- Enjoy local lunch at arrival in Chau Doc Town, a charming town located along Hau River.
- Check in a local hotel (4 stars standard).
We will get on the wooden boat to start the journey:
- Chau Doc Floating Village: Discover where fish farming has been the main livelihood of local households for generations. Learn about unique fish-raising methods that produce thousands of tons of freshwater fish for export each year. More than a tradition, this practice is harmoniously integrated with the river’s flow and reflects a strong commitment to sustainable development closely tied to local resources.
- Cham Village in Tan Chau, An Giang Province: Known as the Islamic capital of the Mekong Delta, this riverside community offers a different world of quiet countryside and characteristic waterways. Experience the warmth and hospitality of the Cham people and learn the traditional weaving process, where threads are dyed with natural colors from barks, leaves, and roots, creating vibrant shades of black, red, yellow, green, and blue.
- Evening: Free time to explore Chau Doc on your own. Overnight in Chau Doc.
DAY 2: CHAU DOC – WATER LILIES HARVESTING
- 06:00: Pick up from hotel. Join local farmers in the traditional activity of harvesting water lilies, which is the signature experience of this journey. Row a sampan into the swamp to collect and neatly arrange the lilies on the boat. With their pink and white blossoms stretching across the water, this activity offers a rare and picturesque glimpse into daily life in the Mekong Delta, an experience that can only be found during the flood season.
***Note: local farmers work hard from dark to catch up the day market for sale, this is not a pleasure entertainment service but an authentic experience to visitor. Please be advised for muddy related activities.
- The floating season, which is an unique phenomenon along the Viet Nam - Cambodia border, shapes both the landscape and the rhythm of local life. By joining the harvest, you immerse yourself in the resilience of people who have learned to adapt to nature’s challenges, experiencing a way of life that exists only at this time of year.
- Join cooking lunch with the host family, using freshly gathered ingredients from the water to prepare a simple yet flavorful lunch guided by traditional local recipes in their home.
- Afternoon Cultural Activities:
- Khmer Pagoda - enter the world of Buddhism, where local belief and practice their religion are take an important role in the quiet countryside.
- Visit Khmer Waving Village to experience the tradition of a rich cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations.
- Farewell & Transfer: Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City / Can Tho. End of tour.
