The Halong Bay Heritage International Marathon has a course certified by the World Athletics Federation (WA) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
The tournament is part of the official competition system of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Halong Bay Heritage Marathon has officially joined the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group Ranking System from 2022.

Running route: 10km and 5km athletes, after 250m from the start, turn right onto Tran Quoc Nghien Street to the turning point of the distances, then run straight to the Finish Line.

Running route: Athletes competing in the 42km and 21km distances will run up Bai Tho Bridge after the Start, reach the Banyan Tree Roundabout and make the first U-turn. Athletes will continue running on Tran Quoc Nghien Street towards Quang Hanh, make the second U-turn and head straight to the Finish Line.
