The almost 90-year-old Zürich Zoo is located in an idyllic location on Zürichberg, in the city's Fluntern neighborhood. The zoo is located on the roof of Zürich, although surrounded by trees, it can be reached quickly and easily from the city center.
Zoo Zürich is home to approximately 4000 animals representing 380 different species with the oldest inhabitant being Nigrita, a giant Galapagos tortoise that has inhabited the zoo since 1946. Zürich Zoo serves as an ambassador between humans, animals and nature. With engaging initiatives and conservation projects, it contributes to the protection of biodiversity and shares knowledge with people of all ages.
