Asia's largest underground shopping mall - Starfield COEX Mall in Seoul recently witnessed the opening of a massive multi-storey library - Starfield Library: a 2,500 square meter building that holds over 50,000 books and magazines international press. Operated by Shinsegae Corporation, the library in Seoul opened its doors on May 31, 2017 and hopes to attract more visitors to the mall, which has been in decline since 2014.

To cover this brand new cultural house, the renowned Gensler Studio chose Prestige by Marca Corona, a wood effect line inspired by the most precious essences of natural oak. More than 50,000 books and magazines are housed on giant 13-meter-high bookshelves that line the two floors of the Starfield library. The library has more than 600 types of domestic and international books and magazines, forming Korea's richest collection of documents, covering genres such as: economy, politics, strategy, literature, and science. fiction, etc

The Starfield Library has attracted the attention of both tourists because of its fresh design. In the morning, natural sunlight from outside helps to illuminate the library. Some of the installed books also have interesting strange pictures. Visitors can access the second floor of the library by escalator, which also adds a touch of the floor-to-ceiling shelves with thousands of books. It looks traditional with wooden bookshelves but modern thanks to automated technology.

The Starfield Library has about 200 seats in the form of plush sofas, tables and benches. Seating is the key to long-term reading because the materials here have not been rented out. Service kiosks and information centers can help visitors find materials, and although most of the books are in Korean, there are also books to read in English. With popular amenities like free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and plenty of electrical outlets, it's ideal for serious readers and students. In addition, with the advantage of being located inside a shopping center, students and library visitors can easily visit cafes, restaurants and convenience stores to recharge or relax. after a study session or sightseeing around.

The Starfield Library also hosts many events such as talks, book presentations and book launches. The library also accepts book donations to keep growing in terms of material diversity.

The most convenient way to get to the Starfield library is by taking the subway. Visitors can get off at Samseong Station and take exit six. The exit from the subway will take you to the Starfield COEX Mall.
