Thich Ca Phat Dai not only plays the role of a religious and spiritual architectural work but also a famous Vung Tau tourist destination. The temple follows the Theravada sect, when you come here you will find that the temple only worships Shakyamuni Buddha on the premises. The pagoda was built from 1961 to 1963, this work was the idea of Mr. Le Quang Vinh - a mandarin during the French colonial period, but due to dissatisfaction with the regime, he resigned from the military. The entire campus of Shakyamuni Phat Dai has an area of about 5 hectares. Overview of the Shakyamuni Phat Dai area has the shape of a crescent moon divided into three levels. Level one is Tam Quan and flower garden. The second level is the guesthouse and the traditional gallery. The third level has a complex of Thien Lam Pagoda and a Buddhist area, with large-scale architectural and sculptural works recounting the life of the Buddha. There is a Bodhi tree in the campus, which is a descendant of the Bodhi tree Sri Maha Bodhi (Bodhidharma, India). Venerable Narada Mahathera invited a sapling from this root to plant here on November 2, 1960. In addition, in the campus, there is a statue of Buddha attaining enlightenment with a height of 11.6 m. Inside the statue, there are three Buddha relics, the special thing is that the statue was built on the spot, especially the first part was cast in Saigon. At the beginning of the year, the temple attracts many people here for pilgrimage, worship and good luck in the new year.
