Located in the Hishino Resort Tomamu, Unkai Terrace is a famous place to watch the sea of white clouds spreading out before your eyes.

Located at 1,088m above sea level, from this perfect height and vantage point, lucky visitors can witness the spectacular sea of ​​clouds (known in Japanese as unkai), appearing appear early in the morning under special atmospheric conditions. You can even experience Unkai up close as if you could reach them with your hands. On a clear day, you can see with your own eyes the sea of ​​clouds rolling over the mountains in the region like Mount Hidaka in Tomamu and even see Mount Tokachi.

Unkai Terrace is not only for hotel guests but also for general visitors to enter the observation area. There's a cafe located near the terrace, so you can have breakfast while enjoying the amazing views, and depending on the season, Unkai Terrace offers free yoga classes and guided hikes mountain to the top of Mount Tomamu.

In order for visitors to enjoy the sea of ​​clouds from different points while walking, Unkai Terrace has designed several viewpoints at different heights and directions. The most prominent and well-known among them is "Cloud Walk" which was established in 2015. This area is set as a cloud-shaped deck, jutting out from the slope allowing visitors to enjoy the sea experience. at the closest distance ever, as if walking inside fluffy clouds.

The Sky Wedge is located a little way from the "Cloud Walk", an observation point that looks like the bow of a ship. The scenery is as beautiful as in the movie, very suitable for tourists who like to take pictures. Next is the Contour Bench area with a capacity of up to 200 guests, giant benches designed like the contours of mountains, and arranged at different angles and heights along the natural terrain.

Enjoy the feeling of floating like a dream at “Cloud Pool”, a giant hammock designed to protrude from the cliff above the clouds. You can walk and enjoy the sea of ​​clouds right below. This viewing point can only hold up to 10 people to enjoy at the same time.

Cloud Bar is a new viewing point that opened in the summer of 2019, inspired by the bar with breathtaking views like the sea of ​​clouds and the morning sun. It features that you can climb the steps on the chair and sit in the mountain scenery.

Unkai Terrace is only open from mid-May to late October. The cable car line runs from about 4:30 am to 7:00 am allowing visitors easy access to the top of the mountain. Unkai Terrace has now become an icon and a very popular attraction of Hokkaido, where over 100,000 visitors have visited so far.
