Garibaldi Square, also known as Piazza Garibaldi, is a large square located in the center of Naples. This square is home to many important architectural works, including Napoli Centrale train station, Napoli Piazza Garibaldi train station and the Giuseppe Garibaldi Monument.
Piazza Garibaldi is located in the southeast of the old town of Naples, about 200 meters from the Duomo. This square is surrounded by the city's main streets, including Corso Garibaldi, Via Roma and Via Toledo. Regarding architecture, Garibaldi Square is built in a modern style, with simple and strong lines. The square is paved with marble and has many fountains and statues.
The history of Garibaldi Square begins in the 19th century, when the Kingdom of Italy was established. The square was completed in 1861 and named Piazza Garibaldi, in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, an Italian revolutionary who led the movement for Italian unification.
