The National Gallery of Victoria is Australia's oldest and most famous public art gallery, where it often hosts major exhibitions. The National Gallery of Victoria, commonly known as the NGV, was established in 1861 and is the largest and most visited art museum. Centrally located about 500m from Flinders train station, very convenient for tourists to visit.

Upon entering the NGV, at the center of the front lobby, this is usually the place to display the large, outstanding artwork of the collection being displayed here. Step inside and you'll see one of the most extraordinary ceilings in the world. In this room, the ceiling is decorated with colorful stained glass, when the light shines through it creates beautiful rainbow bands. It is also the venue for National Gallery of Victoria events.

The inside of the gallery is divided into several zones, with the collections arranged by historical period and territory. There is a gallery dedicated to the indigenous cultures of the Pacific region, or a children's area with lovely, colorful artwork. You'll also find ancient European and English tapestries and paintings dating from 1200 to the present. The gallery has many works from ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome of very high value. It is estimated that about 66,000 works from all over the world are displayed here. Many works by great names in the art world such as Bernini, Cezanne, Corregio, Manet, Monet and Picasso. In addition to the permanent collections, the Gallery also features short-term art collections from world-renowned artists.

The gallery system consists of 2 buildings, with the main exhibition hall located on St Kilda Street, and the second building located on the Federation Square campus.
