Profile
Boston's bustling Italian Quarter, known as the North End , is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. It was the home of silversmith and revolutionary leader Paul Revere during the American Revolution. His home, which he bought in 1770 and lived in when he made his famous night out, is the home of the only patriot on the Freedom Trail and is open to the public.
A must-see attraction in the North End is the Old North Church . Built in 1723, the Catholic Church in the City of Boston, known to all as the Old North Church, is Boston's oldest church building and most visited historic site. In 1775, this place was the place where the American revolution was initiated - the American War of Independence from the British.
In addition to being a historic landmark, the North End is also a popular attraction for its bustling Italian atmosphere. In the North End, visitors can easily find Italian restaurants, cafes, and bakeries with the seductive aroma of olives, freshly roasted coffee, and Italian cheese.
At the North Bennet Street School in the area, visitors can find courses in bookbinding, cabinet making, furniture making, carpentry, silver and gold making, and violin making. The school's showroom looks like a museum of fine arts and crafts, the perfect place to buy one-of-a-kind items.
