More than 1,000 years ago, Bach Bat village, Bo Xuyen Chan Thanh Hoa belonging to Ai Chau Son, is Bach Bat village, now is Bach Lien village, Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province is a famous pottery village. However, pottery here was also lost for nearly 1,000 years and was restored more than ten years ago. Bo Bat Pottery with its unique glaze line has affirmed its quality, gradually becoming a popular ceramic brand in the region and favored by markets in some countries around the world.

Archaeologists excavated the Man Bac site in Bach Lien village in 1999 and discovered 15 graves, 17 people and countless ceramic pieces including beads, ceramic circles, ceramic cups, raw pottery and glazed ceramics. white.

According to history books, the artisans of Bach Lien village went with the Ly court (in 1010) to Thang Long, where they settled on the banks of the Red River and established a village, today called Bat Trang pottery.

The products of Bo Bat pottery village were very popular in the Ly - Tran dynasties. Many relics have been discovered during archaeological excavations at Dinh Kinh area and the temple of King Le, including the terracotta tile "Dai Viet Quoc Quan Thanh Chuyen" - an advanced type of brick used to build the monument. relics, exquisite pottery such as dragon heads, spirit animals, vases, household items, etc. (Ninh Binh).

In particular, Bo Bat pottery uses a special white clay called Bo Di clay only found in this region. Contrary to other types of soil, this type of soil has the characteristic of making a new layer of white glaze and only needs to be baked 50-70% of the time while still ensuring its flexibility and hardness. Stock is less likely to crack or break after firing than most clays.
