Profile
Since the second North Korea – US Summit took place in Vietnam in February 2019, things about Vietnam have become more popular in Korea. Many Vietnamese restaurants opened and a lot of Koreans traveled to Hanoi (where the meeting took place) for their vacation. Vietnamese restaurant “Emoi” opened around the end of 2015 in the bustling neighborhood of Gangnam district, serving Vietnamese food, especially Hanoi-style pho.
When entering “Emoi”, diners will find the decoration style quite comfortable and spacious. With unpainted floors, simple wooden tables and chairs like family diners, walls painted in yellow with columns lined with red bricks and a mural of a Vietnamese woman wearing a traditional Ba ba costume, wearing conical hats and carrying fruit on his shoulders. The effort of the owner of Emoi can be seen to create the most Vietnamese atmosphere they can for their diners.
Pho is one of the most ordered dishes at Emoi. The pho here is a beautiful work of color - the middle slices of beef with finely chopped coriander around, to the point of being invisible, the juicy and almost clear broth, served in porcelain bowls . Those who taste pho for the first time at Emoi also praise that perhaps the chef at the restaurant must also be very knowledgeable in creating new and delicious flavors of traditional Vietnamese Pho. The broth is light, full of flavor and well seasoned, unlike anything else in Seoul. Two types of pho are served including regular and premium. The meat in premium pho is pre-cooked and then added to the broth, giving it a completely different flavor than regular pho. Fried spring rolls here are perfectly shaped, crispy fried is also a favorite dish especially for young people.
In addition, Emoi also serves familiar Vietnamese dishes such as banh xeo, grilled pork vermicelli, spring rolls, fried rice and sautéed spinach with garlic.
Food prices here range from 9,800 won (beef noodle soup), to 15,000 won (barbecued vermicelli).
