Bao Ha wooden statue carving village is located in Dong Minh commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong, about 38km from the center of Hai Phong city, if traveling by car it will take more than 1 hour. The village is famous for its carving, sculpture, and lacquer work. Sculpture in the village was formed 500 years ago, through many ups and downs, the statue carving profession still maintains and develops to this day with many unique products that are loved by many domestic customers. According to the people here share: The ancestor of the village is Mr. Nguyen Cong Hue. He was the first person to transmit the profession of sculpting and lacquering to the people. Because of his great merit, when he died, the villagers built a temple and made a statue to worship him, respecting him as the ancestor of the statue-making profession. During the feudal period, the village had many good artisans selected by the court to carve the throne for the king and many works in the capital. Up to now, the village's products are not only served in the country but also exported to foreign countries such as Eastern Europe.
