Profile
This is a little gem tucked away in a street in Geneva's art district. La Verreà Monique was created by Helen Calle-Lin, she was inspired by the atmosphere of embargo-era speakeasy bars, with details like the teapot in the cupboard (during the US embargo, alcohol was often restored. served in teapots to hide), copper bars, and art deco pieces are vintage murals on glittering blue walls. La Verra à Monique offers additional outdoor seating on a quiet street and an English garden courtyard that will be open in spring and summer.
The extensive drink menu is organized into flavor categories: Salt & Brine Concentrate, citrus, floral, herb, forest and raspberry bush notes, fruit, butter & spice. The signature cocktails here include Smokey Bear - a cognac soaked in black truffle mushrooms, mixed with the scent of burning oak moss placed on top. The Karma Sumatra cocktail is a blend of dark rum and pearl jasmine. Cockail Negroni has a bit of an Asian twist thanks to a hint of vermouth and cherry peel.
La Verra à Monique is a bar with a classic style but with unusual drinks. So don't just aim for the traditional cocktails, but try the Malice in Wonderland (gin oolong, champagne, and licorice) or Mata Hari or a Cherry Amaretto sour. A few snacks are also served here for guests to sip while enjoying the wine and listening to music.
