Chef Yim Jung-sik is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York and has worked in both New York City and Spain, a pioneer in modern Korean fine dining. A feast for the senses – Jung Dang Sik restaurant opened in Sinsa-dong in 2009 and New York in 2011, Jung Sik Dang, has received two Michelin stars and is located in one of the upscale neighborhoods most, Cheongdam Dong in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The term "New Korean", meaning New Korea, was first used by owner chef Yim Jung Sik, who pioneered new ways to offer a wide range of innovative Korean dishes. First opened in 2009, Korean movie stars and celebrities also visit this restaurant. Jung Sik Dang aims to foster an "accessible" Korean cuisine, where it's not just about Kimchi but about the potential of Korean food presented in a variety of creative ways. With the restaurant's modern and simple decor, Jung Sik Dang emphasizes on how to express taste, neatness and creativity in cuisine.
Based on Korean food, all menus change every 2-3 months. Even the signature dish changes within a year. Previously famous signature dishes were Jeju Crispy Snapper, Pork Jowl and Sea Urchin Bibimbap, voted as one of the 10 best dishes in the New York Times. Coming to Jung Sik Dang, diners can expect creative and sophisticated dishes such as deep-fried duck with white kimchi, onshimi with scallions and parmesan cheese, and mushrooms served with poached eggs and pureed kimchi. . Korean ingredients decoded and recreated in the menu taste like an artist mixing colors on a palette to create a masterpiece on canvas.
Jung Sik Dang offers two options: Chef's Choice for first-time diners, and Design Tasting for those who want to choose their own dishes. Chef's Choice prices range from 66,000 won for lunch and 130,000 won for dinner. Design Tasting prices range from 44,000 won for lunch and 110,000 won for dinner.
In addition, Jung Sik Dang has a wide selection of fine wines. Jungsik Bar, located on the first floor, serves an à la carte menu with an excellent wine list. The fancy desserts along with the extensive wine list and the attentive service of the staff at the restaurant will bring a full experience to diners.
