Gwandeokjeong Pavilion is one of the oldest buildings on Jeju Island, Gwandeokjeong Pavilion was built by Pastor Sin Suk-cheong in the 30th year of King Sejong's reign (1448) as a practice ground. Because of its historical contribution in strengthening the spirit and soul of soldiers ("Gwandeok" literally means spiritual training and virtue), Gwangdeokjeong Pavilion was designated as Treasure No. 1963. Today, the hall serves as a model for excellent soldier training.
