Temple of God Nguyen Trung Truc

Nguyen Trung Truc's real name is Nguyen Van Lich, he was born in 1838, his birthplace is in Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh town. When the war broke out, his family fled the enemy, moved to the South, lived in Ben Luc district, Long An province and worked as a fisherman in the downstream area of Vam Co Dong river.

In December 1859, when the French opened fire to attack Gia Dinh citadel, Nguyen Trung Truc enthusiastically joined Nguyen Tri Phuong and even recruited a number of farmers to follow him. From there, he became one of the leaders of the anti-French movement in Vietnam from 1861 to 1868.

Nguyen Trung Truc is known for two great military feats: burning the French ship L'Espérance on December 10, 1861 and capturing Rach Gia from the French on June 16, 1868. praised him with the following two verses:

Nhat Tao's fire rose to the heavens

Kien Giang silver sword worships ghosts and gods.

Finally, Nguyen Trung Truc was arrested on Phu Quoc island, then he was imprisoned and executed here. Although he is gone, the locals still can't forget this great hero, that's why people built the communal house to worship Nguyen Trung Truc in 1993. The temple is the place where people worship. , make offerings and hold ceremonies to pay respects to him.

In August every year, local people gather here to organize Nguyen Trung Truc's uprising against the French by recreating the battle between our army and people in the past against the French.
