The National War Memorial was dedicated to the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25, 2019, in memory of the 25,942 Indian soldiers of the Army, Navy and Air Force who gave their lives for the service. all wars in India after Independence in 1947. The Memorial is located close to the famous India Gate attraction, spanning 42 hectares.
Through a global design competition with more than 427 participants, the Monument was finally started and completed in 20 months. The galleries aim to provide information on the history of some of the important battles that Indian soldiers fought. There are also walls about 1.5m high including granite blocks on which the names of the fallen soldiers are engraved.
