Profile
Kuromon Market (黒 門, Kuromon Ichiba) is a covered public market that stretches for about 600 meters parallel to Sakaisujidori Street in the Minami area of Osaka. The market has about 150 shops that mainly sell fish, meat and produce, with other shops also selling traditional sweets, cheap clothing and household items. The market dates back to the Edo period, and today has become an ideal place to stroll around, shop, and eat a variety of street food. One of the attractions of the market is the way in which its many shops not only sell larger quantities of food for later consumption, but also smaller portions that can be eaten immediately afterwards, with some The restaurant even provides a small area where patrons can often stand and eat. Some of the foods sold at the market are grilled seafood including crab legs and oysters, meat skewers, sea urchins, sushi, eel, seasonal fruits and fried pellets, and street food. Note that Kuromon Market can get crowded. When eating street food, be sure not to obstruct the flow of traffic, dispose of garbage properly, and handle food carefully so as not to stain the clothes of passersby. The reckless behavior of some tourists has been the cause of resentment among some locals.
