According to historical books, in the 16th century, the people of Thanh Hoa origin on the way to follow Lord Nguyen Hoang (1525-1613) to Thuan Hoa area (this is the 3 provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue) reclaimed land and set up a business. , stopped at the area of Thanh Thuy Chanh village now to build the village and name the village Thanh Toan. In the reign of King Thieu Tri (1841-1847), the name Thanh Toan was changed to Thanh Thuy. After that, the village was officially named Thanh Thuy Chanh, but people here still used to call it Thanh Toan.
Thanh Thuy Chanh village currently has about 3,000 households, living mainly by farming wet rice. In the leisure time, local people also do extra jobs such as hat making, baking, forging agricultural tools... Coming to Thanh Thuy Chanh Village, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Que market, the profession of making hats. , making cakes , communal houses and Thanh Toan tiled bridges .
Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge is a bridge over a bald eagle that flows all the way from the beginning of the village to the end of Thanh Thuy village. This is a wooden bridge built in the style of "Thuong Gia, Ha Kieu" (above the house under the bridge), the bridge is 43 meters long (about 18.75m), 14 meters wide (about 5.82m), on both sides of the city. The bridge has two rows of wooden platforms and railings to rest on. The bridge has a roof, covered with glazed pipes, divided into 7 compartments, the middle of the bridge is dedicated to worshiping Mrs. Tran Thi Dao (who had merit in building the bridge). Thanh Toan tiled bridge has undergone many restorations (in 1847, 1906, 1956, 1971), the size and materials of the bridge have changed slightly, the architectural style remains the same.
Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge is one of three remaining tile-roofed bridges in Vietnam: Hai Anh tile-roof bridge (Nam Dinh), Thanh Toan tile-tilt bridge (Hue) and Hoi An pagoda bridge. The bridge was built in 1776 and associated with the merits of Mrs. Tran Thi Dao (donation for construction) - a niece of 6 generations of one of the 12 founders of that village, Tran Thi Dao. She married a top official in the dynasty under King Le Hien Tong (1740-1786) but had no children. In order to pray, she made merit, spending money to build that wooden bridge for the villagers on both sides to pass easily, without having to use a cross-boat, and also to let travelers and other people ask for food to stop when they want to pray. If you miss a step, let the villagers come to rest and relax in the summer afternoons, or on cool, windy moonlit nights.
