Profile
The Porsche Museum has presented automotive history and “Porsche Fascination” in a unique style since 2009. This impressive building is located in the heart of Zuffenhausen, the company's home town, and was designed by Vienna architecture firm Delugan Meissl.
Supported only on three V-shaped columns, the main main structure of the museum seems to float above the ground like a monolith. This bold and dynamic architecture reflects the company's philosophy. It is designed to convey a welcoming and approachable feeling to greet visitors in a friendly manner.
The building clearly transforms the dynamic nature of the Porsche brand into the architecture. From all angles, the shapes of the monolithic and base buildings look different thanks to their avant-garde, polygonal form and variation in the structure and windows. The museum's glazed main façade is 23 meters high decorated with the Porsche emblem facing north, welcoming car-goers into the city centre. The architect succeeded in creating a complex that is eye-catching but still blends harmoniously with its whole.
In the spacious exhibition area, about 80 cars and many other small exhibits will take visitors into the fascinating history of Porsche. In addition to iconic, world-famous cars such as the 356, 550, 911 and 917, the exhibits also include some of Professor Ferdinand Porsche's outstanding technical achievements from the early 20th century. then, Porsche's name represented a commitment to never be satisfied with a technical solution that did not fully meet or exceed all of its requirements, including opportunities for further improvement. The items on display are constantly being changed, contributing to the dynamism of the exhibition space. Visitors can experience first-hand how classic Porsche cars are restored in the museum workshop and prepared for races.
As a living automobile museum, the Porsche Museum presents a number of special exhibitions on special themes or special anniversaries every year. Special interactive highlights include the 12-meter-long multi-touch wall, which entices each visitor to interact individually with it to travel through time through automotive history with some 3,000 images, drawings, and applications. posters and advertisements. Another highlight is the “Porsche in the Mix” sound setting. With virtual live tours, mixed reality formats and a new app, the Porsche Museum is catching up to the pace of its digital offering.
The digital experience is being extended further in the permanent exhibition using “Microsoft Holo Lens” technology: During the “Porsche Holographic Design Tour”, a hologram by Porsche Designer Matthias Kulla explains the Classic design features and Porsche design language using a real 911 for example.
