Established on October 22, 1963, the Air Defense - Air Force Museum is a successor to the Air Defense Museum founded in 1958. This museum is classified as a category 2 museum within the system of National Museums of Vietnam, preserving numerous valuable images, documents, and artifacts that chronicle the birth, construction, and development of the Vietnamese Air Defense - Air Force.

Historical Heritage

During the two wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the Air Defense - Air Force recorded an impressive 2,687 enemy aircraft shot down, including 64 B-52 bombers. This unit has been honored by the Party and the State with numerous prestigious awards, from the Gold Star Order to thousands of Victory Medals, affirming its significant role in the history of travel and national defense.

Exhibition Space

The museum features an outdoor exhibition area of up to 18,000 m², while the indoor display area covers 3,200 m², showcasing large artifacts such as anti-aircraft guns, aircraft, missiles, and military equipment from the enemy that was shot down. Notably, an electronic model system and documentary films help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the historical developments of the Air Defense - Air Force.

Notable Collections

The museum also exhibits many important artifacts, such as the 37mm anti-aircraft gun used by To Vinh Dien during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, and the Mig-21 fighter jet that shot down a B-52 during the battle in December 1972. The indoor displays recreate the glorious victories of the Air Defense - Air Force throughout various historical periods, from the resistance against the French to modern times.

The museum is open for visitors from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM daily, offering guided tours and reasonable ticket prices. There are also numerous discounts for large tour groups and free admission for policy beneficiaries.
