Profile
The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886: it recounts his history and stories, bringing both to life by placing them in a technological context.
The museum not only showcases the interesting history of the Mercedes-Benz brand, but also offers glimpses into the future. The Museum Architecture, the work of UN Studio van Berkel and Bos, Amsterdam, served this mission. Its dramatic modernity seems to mark a design that comes from the future - but at the same time preserves tradition. The architecture exemplifies the brand's legacy. The interior of the building is modeled after the double helix DNA helix containing the human genetic code, and is therefore committed to realizing the unique concept of the Mercedes-Benz brand: creating completely new things for mobility. human movement, over and over - from the invention of the automobile to the pioneering vision of accident-free driving.
The exhibition concept itself is an original design developed and executed by HG Merz, Stuttgart and Berlin. In a two-hour walk through the museum, visitors will enjoy a unique journey through time throughout 120 years of automotive history. They are transported by elevator to the top floor, from where the two tours return to the starting point following long curves through the extensive collection.
Through nine levels, the two paths form a double helix as a symbol of the brand's genetic assets. Seven "Legendary" rooms are arranged on the first circuit. They tell the story of the brand chronologically. For the second tour, a range of vehicles are arranged in five separate "Collection" rooms, where, over the decades, the brand and collection portfolio is presented in all its glory. their diversity. Another special feature: for the first time, the Museum preserves the history of more than 110 years of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles.
Visitors can switch between tours at any time. Both tours end at the "Silver Arrows - Races and Records" corner, where the brand's pure, unmistakable lore becomes visible. The exhibition is complemented by a "Seduction of Technology" section, which allows visitors to see what goes on every day at Mercedes-Benz and also presents topics related to the future of the automobile.
The detailed picture of the Mercedes-Benz brand includes more than 1500 exhibits, including 160 vehicles - 80 passenger cars, 40 commercial vehicles, and 40 racing and record-breaking cars.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum is the best and only place in the world where, from its beginnings to the present, people can experience the automotive history and legend of the Mercedes-Benz brand in a whole new way and interesting.
