Profile
Just a few steps from the main gate of Ankara Citadel is the Çengel Han Rahmi M Koç Museum. Housed in an old caravan built in 1522, its exhibits include Mechanics, Land Transport, Scientific Instruments, Maritime, Daily Life, and others.
The museum was founded by Mr. Rahmi M Koç, the son of one of Turkey's most famous and successful business families, who started their business in Çengel Han and developed over generations, so, Historic building has special meaning for the family.
Adults as well as children will enjoy wandering the rooms, admiring the exotic items and collectibles. These include children's toys and old technology, as well as full-size ships and planes. With lots of interactive exhibits and activities, including a free train ride, this museum is the perfect way to spend a day - especially since it has a great dining venue, Divan Café, with outdoor seating weather when the weather is warm.
If you have a chance to visit Ankara and take a walk on the hill with the Citadel, be sure to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilization, one of Turkey's most interesting museums.
