National Railway Museum

This unique museum has a fascinating and whimsical collection of over 100 life-size exhibits of the Indian Railways. The static and active models, signal equipment, antique furniture, historical photographs, 3D virtual reality shows, and related documents are displayed in the museum, attracting many visitors to visit.

The first National Railway Museum took shape on more than 4 hectares of land and the indoor gallery consists of an elegantly designed octagonal building housing six galleries and a large open display area arranged to simulate the atmosphere of a railway yard.

The museum was inaugurated by Shri Kamlapati Tripathi, the Minister of Railways with the honor to cut the ribbon on February 1, 1977. The Museum's collection is the largest life-size collection of road components. other iron in the country. The museum is home to locomotives and trains from particular states across the Indian Subcontinent. The Patiala State Mono Railroad (PSMT) and the John Morris fire engine are the rarest working exhibits of its kind in the world. Some operations are carried out by units belonging to different sections of Indian Railways. The museum houses documents, maps, drawings, books and other documents from over 160 years of Indian Railways.

Modern 3D virtual reality technology takes visitors back in time. The indoor gallery uses digital and mobile technology to make the tour interactive, educational, and engaging. The museum has a range of mobile apps and websites that allow train lovers to interact remotely with the exhibit. 3D virtual tours and an indoor navigation system to help travelers find their way and selectively access the content on the card. The Museum intends to create a railway community that allows everyone to contribute ideas to improve the Museum.
