And following in the footsteps of advanced countries in the world, Kazakhstan established its own geological museum with the aim of sharing its pride with friends around the world about the diversity of underground mineral deposits.

During the Second World War, when Almaty was one of the evacuation centers in 1942, the Geological Museum was opened at the Institute of Geosciences under the designation of Academician Kanysh Imantaevich Saptaev. After the war ended, and the museum prospered with an increase in exhibits and visitors. Since 1969, the museum has regularly held periodic exhibitions that attract a large number of visitors. After the independence day, a new Geology Museum was invested and renovated more spaciously on a new ground and officially opened to visitors on August 26, 1997.

The first experience when visiting the museum is to try "the feeling of going down to the mines deep in the ground" with an ancient elevator designed according to the original in the actual mines. When you go underground, it is the center of the museum with the actual mines. You will witness stone walls, wooden pillars, railway tracks and wagons filled with ore; and especially the sounds emanating from the machinery, from a simulated mining operation… all will make your visit extremely interesting.

At the museum's exhibition hall, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the original samples of minerals and mineral ores with extremely eye-catching colors, especially the collection of Kazakh onyx, various gemstones. , mined throughout Kazakhstan.
