When visiting the Mekong river delta, there is an amazing place you never want to miss. It’s Kimmy chocolatier which is the first chocolate factory in Vietnam. Located in Long Dinh commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, the factory is on the main road to Cai Be floating market and other attractions in Mekong river delta. Therefore, it makes your trip to the nine dragon river more meaningful.
The factory was founded in 2015 by Mr. Bùi Durassamy who was born and grew up in this area. When he was 24 years old, he migrated to Canada. After that, in trips visiting his motherland, he saw people cutting down a lot of cacao trees as the fruit could not be sold or with very cheap prices, which made him concerned and think a lot about those farmers. Then, he decided to do something for his motherland. He tried to study about the chocolate production process and built the factory in 2015. The factory came into operation in 2017 and gradually gained its reputation for the good quality and a variety of products.
Currently, Kimmy’s Chocolate sources its raw materials from cocoa farmers in Chau Thanh and Cho Gao districts, Tien Giang province. They are expanding its raw material area to Tra Vinh with favorable soil conditions of this land in particular and the Mekong Delta in general for cocoa trees.
Kimmy's Chocolate has over 20 types of products. In addition to chocolate, there are also cocoa powder, cocoa butter, cocoa paste, cocoa bean filling and many more. All are available in supermarket systems, and shops so that customers and tourists can buy them in many provinces and cities throughout Vietnam.
With the operation of the factory, Mr. Bui has solved the output for cocoa trees in this area and helped farmers have a stable source of income.
When visiting the factory, you will have a chance to see cacao trees giving fruit in the garden and go through the whole process of creating chocolate from the fermentation to the finished products. Especially, if you bring your kids along, they must be interested in learning this amazing production and life-meaningful stories from the founder.
