City of Time
“City of Time – located in the heart of Biel, the clock capital of the world”
Located on the Pont de la machine bridge, in the middle of the Rhône, right in the heart of Geneva, this special place is entirely dedicated to Time and all things about time gathered under one roof. The building is built on the Pont de la Machine bridge built in 1840 as a pumping station, to pump water for a new public fountain. It was later rebuilt as Geneva's first hydroelectric power station and was used to regulate the water level of the Rhône. Since 1995, the Seujet Dam held this function and the Pont de la Machine building became the Cité du Temps of today.
From the stylish young Swatch brand to the luxury of the Omega brand, offering visitors the opportunity to explore two different worlds of watchmaking on display in the museum: the Omega Museum and the Omega Museum. Planent Swatch.
Cité du Temps, designed by architect Shigeru Ban, as a unique meeting place for visitors and pedestrians.
